For every competitor, only what its store listing, website or privacy policy states makes it in. When the source says nothing about a feature, the table says "Not stated", which is not the same as "does not have it".

The short answer: there is no single right pick for everyone. Kaption AI has the largest user base among the extensions compared and the longest feature list. WhatsApp's built-in transcription is free and runs on the device. WhatsApp Audio Transcriber gives you 30 free transcriptions a day. Luzia works on your phone with nothing to install on the computer. Who is in the comparison

We included extensions that transcribe WhatsApp Web voice notes and show up in Chrome Web Store searches for "whatsapp transcribe" and "whatsapp audio to text", plus WhatsApp's built-in feature and two bots that are well known in Brazil. Meeting tools were left out because they solve a different problem. The numbers below were read from the stores on September 24, 2026, and they change every day.

Users and ratings from the Chrome Web Store unless noted. Kaption is also on Edge (1,793 active installs) and Firefox (127 daily users). We do not quote ZapVox's own numbers.

Features: what each official source states

"Yes" means the store or the official page states the feature. "Not stated" means the official source does not mention it as of September 24, 2026; the product may have it and not say so. What can be said about value without making things up: among the seven extensions compared, ZapVox is the only one that publishes the price of its paid plans. For the others, the price did not appear on the website or the store listing on September 24, 2026. That does not make them more or less expensive; it means you cannot compare before installing. Luzia+ has a price on the App Store, but neither the website nor the store says whether the paid plan changes anything about voice note transcription. On ZapVox, if you use your own AI key (Groq or OpenAI), ZapVox's AI limits on the Free plan no longer apply; your key provider's limits do.

For people who want the extension with the most users among those compared: 50,000 and 4.9K reviews on the Chrome Web Store, with a "Featured" badge. Its stated feature list is the longest: it transcribes on its own even in chats you haven't opened, translates your reply as you type, exports the whole chat as HTML (with media) or CSV, connects to ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor through MCP, and has desktop and mobile apps; on the phone, transcripts arrive through the Kaption app. The interface comes in 31 languages. Prices for the Basic and Pro plans were not published on September 24, 2026.

Transcribe WhatsApp Audio with AI (Cleverson Pelegrini)

Built by a Brazilian developer, with 10,000 users and automatic "zero clicks" transcription. It was updated on September 17, 2026. The store listing only states transcription. On privacy, the listing says transcription happens "right in your browser", while the privacy policy (Aug 9, 2025) describes sending the audio to a Cloudflare Worker and to OpenAI's Whisper API, then discarding it. If that matters to you, read both.

Transhub

For people who need translation above all. It translates incoming messages and your replies with several engines (Google, Volcengine, Microsoft) and has independent settings per chat. Its chat summary returns tags, business opportunities and tasks. Free, Pro and Max plans, with no published prices.

WASBB (WA Audio & Voice Message to Text)

It has 922 reviews (4.6 rating), an interface in 55 languages, and both automatic and manual transcription. The WASBB website says transcriptions are processed locally in your browser. If that is your priority, it is a direct statement. Summaries, export and scheduling are not mentioned.

WPPME (WA Audio to Text)

It has 315 reviews (4.5 rating), automatic and click-to-transcribe, and 55 languages. The listing states nothing beyond transcription and says nothing about price or where the audio is processed.

WhatsApp Audio Transcriber (N. Liendro)

The most generous free tier among the extensions that publish a limit: 30 transcriptions a day, no account needed. It transcribes your own recording before you send it, so you can send text. The privacy policy is clear: a Cloudflare Worker running Whisper v3 Turbo, with the audio discarded. The interface is English-only, and the listing describes transcription by button.

WhatsApp built-in transcription

Free, nothing to install and generated on the device itself, with end-to-end encryption. For privacy, it is the most protected option on this list. The limits are in WhatsApp's official FAQ: on Android it is manual and covers English, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian. On WhatsApp Web, Windows and Mac, the same FAQ says the feature has rolled out only on some devices and may not be available. The FAQ says nothing about summaries, search, export or scheduling.

Luzia

Free and on your phone, with a huge base: "more than 85 million users", according to its website, and a 4.85 rating (11,988 reviews) on the Brazilian App Store. It is a general assistant that also creates images and reads PDFs. To transcribe, you forward each voice note to its number, and the transcript comes back in your chat with the bot, not in the original conversation. Its privacy policy (July 2024) lists Telegram, WhatsApp LLC, OpenAI and Stability AI among its service providers and has a section on Brazil's data protection law (LGPD).

ViraTexto (Blip)

Free with nothing to install, with voice note summaries and translation into Portuguese. It accepts voice notes of up to 4 minutes, forwarded to the bot's number. Blip states LGPD compliance and an encrypted conversation. The most recent source is a Blip post from June 24, 2025; we could not confirm the service was still active on September 24, 2026.
