Copying transcripts one by one works fine for a single audio. For twenty scattered across a long conversation, it turns into manual work that isn't worth doing.

When exporting is worth it
Exporting makes sense whenever a transcript needs to leave WhatsApp and become a document — not just stay visible on screen until you close the tab.
- Support and customer service. Close a ticket with the full history in text, no audio, ready to attach to the ticketing system.

- Team management. Archive a decision that came out of a group chat full of audio, without having to scroll through it again weeks later.
- Interviews and research. Keep the raw content of a voice conversation as working material, ready for analysis outside WhatsApp.
How to export in two steps
1. Transcribe the audios you want in the file. The export only grabs what's already been transcribed and is still loaded on screen — so click each audio in the conversation (or use the automatic group summary, which transcribes in bulk) before exporting.
2. Open the ZapVox popup → "Chat tools" → "Export conversation". Or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+E (Cmd+Shift+E on Mac) right from the WhatsApp Web tab, no need to even open the popup. A .txt file downloads instantly, named after the contact or group and the date.
Trial and Pro feature. Conversation export is one of the "Chat tools" unlocked starting with the free 7-day Trial — on the Free plan, the button appears locked with an invite to try Pro.
What's in the file — and what isn't
The file lists each line as [time] Name: transcribed text, in the order it appeared in the conversation. It's simple to read and easy to paste elsewhere, like an email or a document.

In practice, this means one important thing: scroll to the relevant point in the conversation before exporting, making sure every audio you care about has already been transcribed and is loaded on screen. If an audio was never clicked, it simply doesn't exist for the exporter — WhatsApp Web only loads the text once you request the transcription.
Want PDF? Convert it in seconds
ZapVox's native export today is TXT only — there's no "export as PDF" button inside the extension yet, though it's on the radar. But turning a TXT into a PDF is quick and doesn't require any new tool:
- Open the file in Google Docs or Word, paste the content, and use "Save as PDF" or "Download → PDF document".
- On Windows, open the TXT in Notepad and use "Print → Microsoft Print to PDF".
- On Mac, open it in TextEdit and use "File → Export as PDF".
It takes under a minute and solves the problem for anyone who needs to hand over the record in a more formal format, like an email attachment or case document — without waiting on an extension update.
What exporting doesn't replace
Worth being direct about the limits: the exported file is a snapshot of what was on screen at that moment — not a continuous backup or a search system inside WhatsApp. If you clear the chat history, transcripts that weren't exported first get lost with it. And since the content often includes information from other people, treat the file with the same care you'd give any sensitive company data. How do I export WhatsApp transcripts?
